NMFRI’s 100th anniversary

The fish in the logo of the National Marine Fisher Research Institute expresses all the values that the institute is guided by: it focuses on marine creatures and presenting research results in a transparent and empathetic way. In 2021, the institute celebrated its 100th anniversary, and below are the materials prepared for this occasion.

Logo

and process of its creation

The initial concept was to create a completely different logo that would only be used for one year. During the research, however, the main, strong conclusion was reached: the current logo is so recognizable and carries a very positive charge of associations that it is not worth rejecting it - even just for a year!

By that, the logo has been based on the current grid and the typography used so far, but enriched with information about the 100th anniversary.

All internal and external communication materials were supposed to be distributed only through 2021. Of course, the 100th anniversary is an excellent event that the brand can be proud of, but no one will celebrate this event for the next five years, right?

Finding a balance between incorporating the entire heritage of the brand and building a limited edition enriched by the uniqueness of this event was the fascinating element of this project.

Production vs. sustainability

in terms of promotional materials

Each of the designed objects had to have a practical use that would be useful daily, so we did not produce plastic bags, poor-quality pens, and pendrives, which each of us has at least a few in our drawers and only recall about them when starting with spring cleaning.

The only exceptions were Christmas cards sent to employees and occasional medals.
